As her junior year at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (Annenberg) comes to a close, student and emerging leader Amanda Brooks has yet another reason to celebrate.

Brooks has officially been named the recipient of this year’s Noemi Pollack Scholarship. She’s currently majoring in public relations at Annenberg with a minor in entrepreneurship at USC’s Marshall School of Business, while interning for Milldam Public Relations in Los Angeles.

As a transfer student in a time of remote learning and pandemic-related challenges, Brooks has persevered through adversity to thrive alongside her peers in the Annenberg community.

According to Brooks, “Since there’s rarely a black and white answer in PR and creativity and results are often subjective, this scholarship has given me a lot of confidence in moving forward and in making judgment calls.  Receiving this honor this past year proved to me that I’m on the right path.”

Brooks is the third recipient to be honored with the Noemi Pollack Scholarship, a merit-based tuition scholarship established in 2020 by The Pollack Group (TPG) to honor the agency’s CEO and Founder. When asked about her key takeaways from Noemi’s own story, Brooks expressed her praise and respect:

“Her versatility is so impressive. She’s given back to the community, run a family business, supported that business for so many years, and worked with such a diverse clientele. As a woman pursuing PR, Noemi’s trailblazing intelligence and leadership are qualities that I admire and strive to emulate.”

Brooks is looking forward to utilizing this scholarship by immersing herself in research at the USC Annenberg Center for Public Relations, making an impact, and contributing to the program that has helped shape her PR knowledge. She noted that Annenberg offers “resources like no other,” with a tight-knit community and faculty members who provide a unique learning experience and truly care about the future of each individual student.

“Amanda has an incredibly bright future awaiting her outside the gates of USC,” said Noemi Pollack. “Her passion has been evident through her conscientious work and enthusiasm in the classroom and work experience. I’m eager to watch her evolve and flourish as a young professional shifting our industry forward.”

Since her high school days, Brooks has developed a deep interest in digital media, cultivating her skills at the intersection of content creation and writing. With a relentless pursuit for storytelling, Brooks hopes to one day bring her expertise to an agency serving top-tier entertainment clients, formulating unique ideas and building strategic messaging around those ideas to captivate brand audiences. Further down the road, she aspires to lead her own agency providing innovative PR outcomes to clients in the film, gaming, and e-sports fields.
